چکیده

Objective: To observe the effect of delayed serum separation on various chemistry analytes. Study Design: Quasi Experimental study. Setting: Clinical Chemistry Laboratory, Sheikh Zayed Medical College & Hospital, Rahim Yar Khan. Period: 1st December 2021 to 31st January 2022. Material Methods: Fifty healthy volunteers age 25-55 years from both genders were included in study using consecutive sampling technique. Informed verbal consent was taken all subjects. 4 cc blood drawn each subject and divided into 3 plain tubes. 1 tube analyzed at hour for glucose, urea, creatinine, ALT, AST, ALP, sodium, potassium, chloride calcium. 2nd same analytes 2 hours after sample collection 3rd hours. Results recorded a predesigned performa. Data entered SPSS Software 23 Windows. presented terms mean SD. P value p < 0.05 considered significant. Results: Glucose, potassium showed statistically significant variation over time while others remained stable up There decrease glucose (p=0.000) increase observed sodium (p=0.0001), (p=0.0001) ALT (p=0.002). Conclusion: Blood samples should be transported laboratory immediately when received centrifuged processed within as transportation affects many may lead erroneous test results.

Effect Of Storage Time And Temperature On Some Serum Analytes

Information on the measured concentration of serum analytes during storage of serum samples is often incomplete and sometimes contradictory. The 10 analytes have not studied in this area in healthy subjects. The aim of present study was designed to determine the effect of storage time and temperature on the laboratory results of 10 analytes in sera from apparently healthy adult males in city of...

The effect of recentrifugation of serum separator tubes on concentration of serum analytes.

In clinical laboratories, sometimes there is a need to recentrifuge the original tubes ("clot" tubes) in order to better clarify and clean the serum or plasma for further analysis. Also, the original tubes are recentrifuged to ensure there is an adequate volume of serum or plasma for multiple repeating or different tests, and/or to run additional tests that are ordered hours after the original ...
